update with latest firmware from downloads this will then allow you to update over lan
These boxes are shipped with standard fta firmware you must install patched firmware to access servers

Make sure that you have selected the correct port e.g com1, com2 com3 etc etc etc.... I remember when i did it for my 2nd box i plugged it into a different usb port and it gave that very message. Hope that helped

The firmware has to be this years before it can be updated via remote.
If the latest firmware is no use try installing the January one, then update via remote

Is the correct cable being used, has it been used before.

Try transfering firmware from one KV to another.
Menu---Installation---Data Download---S/W Transfer
As remote is being used cover the I/R on the box that's receiving the firmware

simple solution u have box set upto pc turn box off and push start download then turn box straight on after you have latest file on set it up to watch on your tv then in menu push to load latest via online connection thats how future updates will be done

have you used that cable before if not it may not be a null modem cable,if you followed the video box is powered off at back before download is pressed then powered on.

Boxes are normally sold with FTA software installed, the latest software then has to be installed,no need for older software to be installed first.
