Starview 7 update guide

Whats needed
1. Starview 7
2. A usb pen drive with latest firmware on it
3. A working modem/router connection to net

Firmware http://www.4shared.com/file/b8d7dfVh/smgo221.html (check for latest firmware)

From the main menu go to Utility and then press the right arrow button and select usb
from the right hand side, you will see the Carling/Guinness file press ok on it and make sure to select SW+ALL DATA UPDATE..

The machine will update and restart itself (Don't pull your memory stick out until the machine has fully started up and you can access menu again)
you now need to scan your channels, No spliters on your incoming cable when doing your scan and dont connect modem/router untill scan completed

Now go to installation press the right arrow button again and go down to AUTO CABLE SEARCH
all you need to change here is the symbol rate.
The symbol rate determines your area for example N*l is 6887, the other numbers are 6952 for Telepe** and EXc&w.
When you have selected your area go to start scan.

once the scan has finished go to menu then highlight accessory and on the remote press the numbers "8989"
you will then see "Key edit" appear on the right hand side, go to it and press ok and just check that auto update is on if its off just turn it on.

Then go to to your channels by exiting the menu and pressing ok..
Select a non FTA channel and leave it until a picture appears
PLEASE NOTE IT CAN TAKE UPTO 5 MINUTES TO UPDATE SO BE PATIENT

Next two lines skip for starview 7
Now go to menu then highlight accessory and on the remote press the numbers "8989"
you will then see "K*yedit" appear on the right hand side, go to it and press ok and just check that auto update is on if its off just turn it on.


To use with LAN connection.

Menu - Option -networks - net application - select type “Ustream(UK)

Now connect to your modem/router to receive all channels

If you have 16:9 TV please follow “ Option -> OSD Setup -> Screen Format

which boxes will still work in a nag 3 area will starview 7 ? ive heard starview hd conbi still does need 2 b sure b4 go buy 1 have a starview 5 at min no fix as yet but will the above defo work or is it a matter of time wks months b4 starview combi is dead aswell ? please help

you would be better off with a kryptview 780,unless you dont mind the problems with starview and missing channels.read the posts in those sections and be in the know then.

Not as yet,reckon when the whole of the UK is Nag3 more boxes will appear.

Hi folks o.k new card was delivered for nt hell on vm have st.view and now starting to loose the channels i take it as this is now changing to nag im in n.i can you advise if the way forward is the purchase of the kryptview and if yes how and where do i get me hands on this wee miracle please and thnks in advance.

Ive inserted the memory stick with the firmware listed above, but im getting a box come up saying " unknown upgrade file"

Where am i gong wrong?

with box been so new its unknown to me at this moment and others,any info found will let you know.
yes same setup as 6 but you use the firmware that is for the seven and follow the sv6 tut

Just to let you know ... i changed the memory stick & it worked.
My problem now is trying to use the splitter, as the box wont come on with this & i need it to access the net.

Ideas anyone?

signal may be low,do you have a min package or just bb?

I mentioned earlier on another thread ....
I followed the instuctions for the starview 6, but it puzzled me that i didnt have an option to put the 8989 code onthe accessory page.
It worked without that part.
If i have a low signal is there anyway i can boost it in order to use my splitter?

Sounds like a bad splitter.
Try using box with the splitter without the net connected the box should still show FTA channels,if it don't most likely a bad splitter

hi thinking og getting a starview 7,live in preston lancs, will it pick up all channels ie $ ones and also is it same as others starview boxes internet cable via splitter in box or do i have to buy other thing for box to work, need help plz

As before all channels can be received with SV7

A ethernet cable connection from router to SV7 box is also needed,with a internet connection at all times.

Box is connect as before from a VM wall connection,or splitter.

Reboot, box, router and modem waiting a few moment before switching back on.
Or
Go back to factory settings and rescan without splitter (no internet connection is needed to rescan.
No report of a server problem.

Not so fast, first check your signal as too strong a signal is as bad as a weak signal.

If the SV and PC work on their own without the splitter it's more than likely it's the splitter.

can any 1 help me I've got a sv7 the frame work thats I've put in is carling 1.02 everything is good but I cant get the porn or box office and itv1 + 1 put new carling frame work in still the same I've reset my router still th same and today some other channels as scranbled and wont come on but it does this and comes on can any 1 help

The box office only shows up near the time of the event for boxing ect although this is normally only on Kryptview

Not sure if SV7 has the porn, has it been shown on the SV7 before.
