kryptview a780

hi im new to this can any one help me with useing and setting up the kryptview a780 do you need to have a virgin media box or can it just work off the router

A live VM feed is needed, this can be broadband or a VM TV sub box (both use the same feed)

A live feed without broadband or box being subscribed to could be short lived as VM appear to be turning off non sub feeds.

so iv got my router do i unscrew the white wire and put it in the kv box then connect the ethernet wire or wont this work havent got a clue what im doing sorry

Presume you have a live VM feed
This is a tipical set up
From wall connection to splitter 1 connection to KV box,
1 connection to modem, from modem to router via Ethernet cable
From router to KV via Ethernet cable ,there maybe a piece of tape over the Ethernet connection on the KV box

Check firmware on box Menu_System Settings__State date

Are Free To Air (FTA) channels available eg BBC,ITV
We need to know what firmware is on the box Menu_System Info_Date ??/??/??

Did you know that there were no channels for several hours this morning?

yes all iv got is the netgear router iv plugged the ethernet cable in and the scart there is also a white wire which is screwed in to the netgear router which comes from outside the house the system info is

date 24/04/2011 software version kryptview a780 pv3.8.00 h/w version v3.0.0

scrambled or no video is comeing up also no or bad signal does the white wire need to go in to the kv box instead of the netgear

White cable is the feed,
As stated before feed from wall to splitter(have you got one)
From splitter to modem AND to KV box.
The firmware is also out-of-date, this can be updated later.

First get a splitter no splitter no encrypted channels (look on Ebay)

I use Konig presume you only need two ports,
REPARTITEUR ANTENNE 2 DIRECTIONS, Konig 2 WAY splitter

Yes mate depends how long he wants to wait i managed to get one from one of the cheap electrical warehouse that did the job

once i get a splitter where/what type of lead connects to it

i know im being a pain so i apoligise

thats an old non working firmware,if box is still connected to tv and lan is plugged in,do a s/w update and dont touch anything until box reboots,then a factory default and a rescan is needed.

good quality coax and a couple of ( f ) connectors, the screw type as opposed to the norm rf, is all you need mate
