recheck you have a working hdmi from box to tv,only insert remove while powered off.does box need a scan?

Hi can anyone tell me how to check if there is a live feed coming in from vm cable, can I connect anything to it to check besides a cable tester,wich I haven't got cheers lads.

Good idea tried it, router was old virgin hub that gave me limited access, so I think my cable is live.
