Newbie question's Empty Newbie question's

Post by jamesmcz11 Sat Oct 15 2011, 23:39

im going to buy a blade 7000s receiver and i just have some questions:

1. i have a sly viewing card subscription, do i just put this card in the blade 7000s ?

2. can i put 2 lnb's on my sly dish to pick up sly and hotbird 13e...?.....if so how do i set this up ? im moving flat at the end of the month so i will use sly's homemove service.....can i ask the sly guy to stick another lnb on my sly dish ?

3. do you think an 80cm motorised dish is better? do you think sly guy would put that up for me instead of a sly dish

thank you

All three questions I would have to say no to all of them.

Buying the Blade with a motorist dish is correct to receive 13E, a C/S will also be needed
A c/s can be bought here,

Blade box is cccam and newcamd ready

This is all done without Sky's help

Sky contract....

Tell them due to the recent upgrade to the digital terrestrial network you no longer need their services...

Wait to you see what they say.

Reckon it would be best to do some reading-up on the sat side before buying anything card sharing (C/S) has to be paid for

If you do decide to go ahead, cheapest to buy the kit and ask a local aerial fitter to install.

Most can be bought on Ebay
Dish---- TD88cm Triax________360289379030___£45.00
Motor__Dark Motor_________310302635532__£45.00
LNB___Inverto Black Ultra___250898810339__£13/14
Brackets__T & K
Don't know why you would buy the Combo unless you also have cable

This is what I reckon will do the job for you as before best to do some readimg
Out of interest would part of your postcode be PA5.??? have a friend in that area

@jonpc ...will this work

1 x Triax TD78 78cm Steel Satellite Dish (user favourite - excellent performance)

1 x 0.1dB Single Output LNB (brand varies, always excellent performance)

1 x Metal Gear DiSEqC Motor (brand varies, DiSEqC 1.2/1.3 USALS Motor with FULL metal gears)

1 x Heavy Duty 'L Bracket' Wall Mount

Can't see anything wrong with you list, although a bigger dish will you more sats,as said before this may be OK for some but not for others.

Note, NO brand names apart from the dish, think about it.

The choice is yours, not everyone's TV is the same as their DVD player.
The above was only what I was advised to use, after installing the dish for the first time all worked OK.
Having a Sky dish does not mean a motorist dish can be installed as eg:trees on the East/West may block the signal for other sats

Seems over the top,I don't know if your fit/able enough but I would do it myself.
Why do you need 13E as some of the channels on 13E are also on 28.2E which you have already.
My advice use your Sky dish with a C/S and box which will give you 28.2E a motorist dish can then be bought later if needed

If it was bought as a motoristed dish package can't see why not.

When the dish is installed make sure it facing south with eg no trees in the way, compass is a good idea.

It will be interesting to see how you get on.

Few photos of the set up once all is completed wouldn't go a miss!

Good luck.
