To buy or not to buy!!!
I think I've kinda got the hang of my Starview 1 and 3 (though some of you may think differently) .
I was thinking of buying my parents a box and the best deal I (think I) can find is the Digibox xl. What sort of experience have you guys had with this? Do you think I would manage to flash and install it ok?
I would appreciate your advice.
Cheers

Re: To buy or not to buy!!!
if you have the hand of starviews why change ,stick to what you know the new starview usb is a good choice , dont get me wrong i do think that you would be able to flash the other boxs , there are some eaiser and some harder boxs to do out there ,its just that if your not having any trouble with the starviews stick with them

Re: To buy or not to buy!!!
Thanks for that - you're right - better the devil you know!!!! I just found that the starview had gone up in price a air bit since I last bought one in November, the digibox seems a good bit cheaper (yes, I'm a typical scot!)
and just remember digibox is one
and the other is digivox xl dont want to order the wrong one yes?

Re: To buy or not to buy!!!
you also have to remeber there is alot of suport on this site for starview boxs and not as much for the box you are on about, so if sumat go,s wrong then you have more of a chance of putting it rite or someone knowing what to do with the starview than the digibox, also the starview boxs are good with updates not saying the others arnt but starview always seem to be able to be fixed in a short space of time ok then mate hope this helps you

Re: To buy or not to buy!!!
digivox xl are getting more popular as people are having more problems with starviews,i had sv1 and moved to digivox silver and from there to xl,flashing is easy null modem cable, downloader 10 to desktop, and bin file to desktop, same as starview setup.most problems solved by factory reset and autoscan and emu to on.last april when boxes went down silver digivoxes did not if current firmware was on box,and was i laughing when the itgates went down
