Hello there folks
Hello,
Im just starting to do some research on which cable box I want to buy, I think up to now its going to be a Starview the box super USB .
I like the fact that its sounds easy to keep updated and you can also fit a USB hard drive to record.
I have a cable coming into my house at the minute, it splits into two, one for broadband and the other goes off to my Cable box receiver, I want to attach a cable amplifier as currently my picture jerks, stutters, goes blank, channels take 15 secs to come on sometimes, tried ringing a well known cable company who just say reset and update your box by turning it off for 10 seconds , which never works!
So my question is do I fit a Konig bidirectional cable amplifier to the after the splitter, the one that goes to my TV only, I have read that its not good to put it before a BB connection.
Also do I install another two way splitter after the amplifier, one to my current box and one to my upstairs new Starview box?
Any views are welcome, even a quick sketch would be helpful!
Best regards Spacewhisper:-)

Re: Hello there folks
Before doing anything get the your cable provider out to fix the problem you have at the moment.
Once they fix it there MAY be no need for a booster.
After buy a box get a splitter with four ports (one in and three out)
Cable from wall to splitter, then cables out to Broadband,Sub box and Starview

getting there
Thanks for the reply, I have started the ball rolling.
I have been in contact with VM and gave them a list of complaints about the cable box.
ie. pictures freezing, stuttering, locking up etc and demanded that an engineer should come out one day this week as Im on a weeks holidays from work and will be in most of the week!
They took my email addy and phone number and said they would get back to me within 48 hours, its now been 24 hours and no reply as yet?
I have also bought a 4 way splitter for £2.75 and shopping about still for a Starview 4 Super USB, I found somewhere for £104.99 with free postage.
so midweek I will buy the box and try and set it up, many thanks and have a good year evryone.

Re: Hello there folks
Thanks to JonPC, I got V engineer out and he gave me a new Samsung box and that was not working, so he gave me a new smart card and now everything works, also got the new updates and got a few new channels too.
I also fed some coaxial through my roof into my bedroom and just have to buy my box now.

Re: Hello there folks
Yeah thanks, I have been studying how to update the SV4 box and understand each step, apart from one bit?/
After you select your provider ie. NTL is complete you have to press MENU 1570 (this was EMU on old boxes)
Does just mean just what it says PRESS MENU and then 1570, is it as simple as that??
Would be greatful if someone could clarify this,

Re: Hello there folks
No when you go into 1570 secret menu you have to turn keycode on
This was called EMU on old boxs but has been changed to keycode on starview 4

Re: Hello there folks
So you literally have to press MENU and then numbers 1570 and then scroll down to keycode and enable it?
Is this correct?
