there's the motorola sb5100 series of modems also ambit 250 or 256 just to name a few but these are on there way out when new docsis 1.1 takes over pretty much same has the old cable boxes went when nagra hit

also finding a stable mac can be a real pain lol

You can't beat a good old ambit 250 with the MAC nabbed form uni!

Back in the day these were great fun to play with.

But as said stablity wasn't always there.

Its much less effort just to pay for a 50meg / 100meg cable line.

Or as coming to my area of Belfast, Fiber to the home.
