Main supplier has no news about the box as yet, best to wait until all problems are solved before buying any box.

hi is there any way that the ETHERNET CONNECTION from the starview 7 could work on older starview boxes to give them a LAN connection

Ok so I'm also looking to get either a Starview 7 or a Starview combo HD, I've been trawling through this forum but could not find answers to the following questions - could anyone here help?

I have found a box calle dthe Starview 9600 HD CACI LAN - is that the latest one? DOes anyone have any info on whether or not it is any good?

And secondly, how much do these servers charge to connect to them? Are there diffferent ones to choose from, or is it straightforward after the fW upgrade?

Pleas help!!!

Starview 9600 HD CACI LAN is a sat box not a cable box. remember it may only last a year on starview server the starview 7 which is a cable box.
the combo is sat and cable but cable may only last a year from first connection to lan.no charge to cable server as it in the price of box.

Thanks for the reply, and I'm sorry for being such a noob but your answer has given me more questions!!

I am on cable so am planning to get the HD combo LAN+. Why does the Starview server have this possible one year 'shelf life'? Is it connected to the charge? i.e you get a one year 'subscription' when you buy the box? Then after a year the server provider will charge for the service? (Not that I'd mind - it's still a damn sight better deal than I'm currently on!)

Also, the HD combo LAN+ seems to have been around for longer than SV7 - is it older technology? Which would you recommend (Obv I would prefer a HD option)

Thansk again Smile

on a cable box when times up buy another box, with the hd combo cable side to server will stop, but you can add a server to sat side and do c/s you pay for that service.
